Woodland Creek selected as finalist for Home Builder CARE Awards

August 25, 2012, Sooke, BC – For the second year in the row the Woodland Creek development has been picked as a finalist in multiple categories for the 2012 Canadian Home Builder Association CARE awards.

“It’s always an honour to earn the recognition of our peers,” said Blair Robertson co-owner of Totangi Properties, the developer behind Woodland Creek. “We are thrilled this year to have not one, but two, of our homes from Woodland Creek, chosen as finalist in the Best Spec home under 2,500 square feet – the Fir and the Birch, and have the project itself as a finalist in the Best New Subdivision category.”

Also recognized this year is team member and licensed residential builder SC Smith Building Co. as a finalist in the Built Green Builder of the Year category.

Woodland Creek is the first housing development in Sooke to offer homes with geo-exchange heating, cooling and hot water. In partnership with Steve Smith owner of SC Smith Building Company, homes in the current phase of Woodland Creek starting at $389,900 (net HST included) are constructed to certified Built Green standards and Energuide rated with features that include gourmet kitchens, walk-in glass showers, engineered wood flooring, master suite walk-in closets and natural gas fireplaces. On completion, the neighbourhood will include over 200 residences (single-family and townhomes), neighbourhood commercial and a park with a pond, walking trails and playground.

“It’s been a very rewarding process to create the Woodland Creek community and over the past year introduce our new energy efficient homes,” Robertson added. “We think we provide a level of service, design choice, and long term value that strongly appeals to the market place and that’s consistent with the feedback we’ve been getting from the public, new residents, and our peers.”

With the opening of the new Woodland Creek 3.5 acre park and trail system, including a playground and nature pond, and the start of the next phase of development, 2012 has been an banner year for Woodland Creek and Totangi Properties.  “Sooke is truly a hidden gem of the West Coast.” said Robertson. “It is a welcoming community with a great collection of local services, shopping, and beaches –  and only 20 – 30 minutes to the larger shops and recreation of neighbouring Langford and Victoria.”

At the 2011 CARE Awards, Woodland Creek took home the Gold award for Best Website, and silver spot for Best Overall Marketing Campaign and Best Single Family Detached Spec Home Under 2,500 sq. ft., the latter given for the developer’s functional and efficient Arbutus design – a plan that boasts accessible, main-floor living and appeals to a wide range of buyers, from young families to seniors. The project also received provincial and national recognition for Woodland Creek at the Georgie and SAM Awards respectively.
